The only artists that I was familiar with while watching the video were Warhol and Picasso. Never heard of or knew anything about Pollack. Picasso's art was interesting because he was able to transform shapes and colors into objects with meaning (abstract). I really liked Picasso's courage to paint the taboo subject of sex. I believe he helped some people view sex in a more accepted and beautiful exploration as oppose to something that should be shunned from. Picasso's art inspired great change for modern art. Pollack's art was very mysterious and abstract to me. I liked how Pollack had the ability to create wild but graceful art. His art had much sophistication to it even though it was wild. His desire to paint on the floor was really cool because it really made me feel as if his art was raw, unrehearsed and spontaneous. Pollack's art really reflected his mental state as mentioned in the video. Warhol's art was probably my favorite because a lot of his work was iconic art. Through his work at times it seemed as if Warhol was trying to document important figures in our society through art. Warhol had a very free living vibe in his art and life as well. His vivid and versatile art gave his work a real "pop" to it.
Questions:
1. What inspired Picasso to paint sexual images?
2. What made Pollack such an angry person?
3. Why was Warhol infatuated with being a star?
4. Why did Warhol like to create surface art as oppose to deep art?
5. How would Pollack critique and explain one of his paintings?
