The Fish

I penciled this drawing in from a textured wall. It looks like straight lines but if you look closely its detailed.

Cupcake

This is a cupcake I created using a leaf for the icing. I used an old vegetable slicer for the base of the cupcake.

"Imaginary Art"

I created this octopus by using different textures from two vases that we have. The face is actually a leave that I transformed into a face. The tentacles, nose, and eyes came from another vase. I used a crayon, because the textures showed up really nice, and because it aded color to the piece.

"Pyramids Sunset Frotagge"

My inspiration for my landscape came from the circle in the middle, I started drawing the top of a jar and it started inspiring me to make it as the sun. After that it all came into place, the sand was the bottom of a silver jewelery box. Then the pyramids that I created with the top of a side table. I did a couple different drafts since I wanted to create the a two dimensional picture with my shadows. Over all I wasn't as satisfied with my picture I wish I had more elements to work with, but at the moment I couldn't find many.

Horse Frottage

well this isn't exactly an imaginary creation but i really love horses.

i made several but this one is my favorite because it's brown and it almost looks like a cave drawing

and i also love how it looks like it's running.

i used oil pastels and the wall for texture.

Butterfly rubbing

I have made a butterful image using many different items that I found around the house or in nature. Unforntunately blogger is unable to upload my picture. I have tried serveral times using different computors. So I will describe it to you. For the wings I used a variety of different leaves and the rough texture of my walls at home. For the body of the butterfly I used the bottom of my shoe. The atenaes I use the rubbing of a braided whip and belly dancer coins. I found the process difficult due to the crayons leaving lines on the edges. I had attempted todo a dragon but the tines kept running teh todtally picture. But it was very fun todo with my son. He made his own rubbings too while I made mine. And we took nature walks to find different leaves for both of our rubbings.

I picked my dog her name is channel I was out side with her and I love her. So I used the bottomed of my shoe for the clouds to it gives it a look like if it was moving. For the sun, dog and back ground I used the wall. Then went out side and grabbed a leaf and that’s how I made the little tree.

"MASK FROTTAGE"

THIS IS MY FROTTAGE MASK, INSPIRED ON THE MEXICAN WRESTLER NAMED "EL PAYASO". TO CREATE THIS MASK'S DRAWING, I USED DIFFERENT TEXTURES SUCH AS FROM THE WALLS, CEILING, AND ALSO FROM A HANDMADE TABLECLOTH. THE EYES, NOSE, AND MOUTH RESULTED FROM RUBBING THE TABLECLOTH. FROM RUBBING THE TEXTURE OF THE WALLS, I CREATED THE FACE, AND THE HAIR RESULTED FROM RUBBING THE CEILING. I USED A BLACK CRAYON FOR THE RUBBING PROCESS.      

" My Rubbing Creature"

So my inspiration for this creature, was the movie "Finding Nemo". This movies is one of my favorite movie of all times. The way the creatures are presented in the movie are fascinating. The colors are just amazingly beautiful, especially the coral where Nemo lives. That's why I created a fish as a creature. I used my mom's candle vase she had on her wall for the fishes body. I put a long white piece of paper on top of da candle vase. I then gathered different tree branches from a tree in my backyard and I position them inside the fishes body and I started rubbing away with a black crayola. It was kind of hard to rub and I was getting frustrated because it was not coming out like I wanted it to come out. I was done with the entire fish, so I got a dime and I used it as the eye. Since I put the dime upside down, the face came upside down ( I do not think u can see it in here). I rubbed the dime harder because i wanted to show depth into the fish. I think it did. In my opinion the fish looked lonely sitting there in the white piece of paper, so I added color to it. I drew in bubbles, shrubs, and a rock at the bottom of the paper. I then colored in the stuff I drew and it came out looking pretty good. Since I had drawn in the bubbles and stuff I had to do an ocean. I colored the entire white background that was left with a light blue color pencil. Finally my rubbing creature came out looking like this.:)

HOMEWORK DUE 10/10/2011

For your homework this week. I want you to discover textures in your environment and create a frottage (rubbing). Use any sheet of paper and try pencil, crayon , or chalk to see which materials get the most detailed texture. Then I want you to imagine the textures as part of a fantastic landscape or imaginary creature. Watch the video of Max Ernst creating his frottages for inspiration. Then post an image and describe how you created the work. Next week we will be researching various artists and because we are a little behind I have decided to postpone the midterm until Monday the 17th. Have a great weekend!

This first picture was taken on a small bridge that hangs over the side of Lake Trinity at my boyfriend's lake property where he grew up on summer weekends as a kid. While he was mowing I was taking pictures. I really love this picture because of how clear the trees are reflected into the water. I also love the lines in the wood of the bridge. I can just imagine my boyfriend coming here as a little boy, not a worry in the world, just running and jumping into the water off of the bridge.


The second picture is of my boyfriend mowing. I was laying down on a blanket and love how in the picture you can see the tall cat-tail grass. Makes the picture look really rustic and simple. It explains the kind of people we are.

The third picture I took was in our yard, out across the pond. The wood usually hold our gun targets when we shoot. I gathered some really bright yellow flowers and places them in the bullet holes to spell out "LOVE". I think that it shows our LOVE for shooting guns.

Honesty, when I took this picture I  just thought is was very unique & beautiful, how the inside world was being reflected through a view of the outside world.

Think of yourself as a therapist, and then ask your patient, what does this remind you of ? The 1st thought that pops into your head!!

Frida Kahlo was born in 1907 but claimed to be born in 1910 when the revolution started she wanted for people to associate her birth date with the birth of the modern Mexico.She contracted polio at the age of six and made her right leg thinner than her left that's why she used to wear long colorful skirts. In her teenage years she was in a car accident were she got injured and damage her reproductive ability. After this accident she decided to start her painting career while recuperating she once said "I paint myself because I'm so often alone and because I'm the subject I know the best". Out of her 143 paintings, 55 are self portraits. She wanted her show her pain on most of them she would say " I never painted dreams. I painted my own reality." Her work was inspired by the Mexican colors that you can see with her use of bright colors. I wanted to give a small review of her life to support all the painting she created and show that her life is behind all of them. As you can see on this picture "The Last Supper" she shows many of her famous work in one, showing many of her faces of lifetime suffering.

I was able to capture a glimpse of how beautiful this flower looked. The sun was bright that day; and the flower seems to be glowing. The sun created the perfect combination of shadows, giving this simple flower a whole new look

I took this picture at the park, last year in the middle of autumn, when the colors are warm and the leaves of the trees start to fall. I really like the colors in this picture and the contrast between the green, yellow, and red. I also like the contrast between the trees with leaves and the ones without them. Almost as if the trees with leaves were trying not to change.

I actuallly took this picture back when I was in High School; and I love the circular pattern of it. It's amazing for me to see, that even something as small as a spider can create something so beautiful. The web seems to have been perfectly crafted. Since a lot of people is afraid of spiders I decided to take this picture in black and white just to give it a more dramatic aspect.

Art in 1 minute

This is my "Lines on Light" picture. I set up a pool of pure water and used a flash light to light each area on that pool. Wherever I light on, it becomes the positive space which is showing lines created by the reflection of the light on that particular area. The rest of the pool becomes negative space, which has no lines or light.

My installation on this picture is all circles. I have a circular mirror, circular coins and circular light. By randomly dropping them to create a form, I coincidentally found the shape of a heart. I actually gave the intangible form an unlimited imagery of shape.

"Which is outside which?" is the name of this picture. The white light seems transferred most of the actually kool-aid color from the cup. Without painting it, I gave the wall the realistic image. Moreover, I have make a counter-logic picture. The kool-aid cup must usually be the outsider, however in this picture the straw is the true outsider.

I picked this picture because I love the ways the building reflect with each other. This reminds me when I was younger and I will tell my dad I wanted to move to New York. What amazed me about this picture that is only 3 building and it looks like more and one of the building has a art on the wall and it was just beautiful view. Beside all that the lines and reflection is just great.

I love this picture is shows how space. No matter if the space is small is still show a lot. This picture makes me feel that animals are like kids playing “pica boo”. I love how is so dark that u can see the noted cables and the kitty just looking.

When I took this picture I fell in love with the way the tree reflects on the ground. To me is shows how on the trees there is a reflects of motions that looks like water. I believe that the lights really show this view very changes the way you see any ornery tree. As well there is a warming emotion to it.
