"Beauty in Art"

As of today, modern art is completely out of purpose. Modern art is beauty, and the beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Anything you see or think can or is beautiful as long as you give it a reason why it is. I learned a lot about modern art in this videos and it made me appreciate art even more. I now understand why artist draw the stuff they draw. They see the world in a way some people do not see it, and that makes us see and appreciate the beauty of the world. For example, Chris Ofili incorporates the elephant dungs, uses ponography and wallpaper to stimulate the eye for beautifulness. Henry Matis also made western tradition with non-western tradition for something new. He stands for akwardness and oddness turning beauty one thing after another one. Another artist that caught my attention was Julie Olitski. He is the greatest painter alive and was the inventor of the spray painter in 1966. He used formalism, which was and idea about beauty, but beauty reduced to colors and flatness. Olitski was a monster on both colors and flatness, and everyone called him the cutting age. Modern art is not about destroying the loveliness of the past but about re-eventing it to make it fit the present.

Questions:
1. Why did Ofili incorporated elephant dung in the art? Why could it not be any other animals dung?
2. Olitski only paints at night, why is that?
3. What made Dennis Hopper collect pop art?
4. Why does Elizabeth Peyton only paints stars?
5. Alex Katz paints elegant art. Why elegant?
